Prime Minister: Attempts Being Made to Create Anarchy from Across the Border Under Guise of Workers’ Demands

Prime Minister Tareque Rahman has stated that attempts are being made to create anarchy in the country from across the border, under the guise of workers’ demands. He remarked that no working-class person or worker can harm their own industrial establishments. Yet, a certain group is carrying out vandalism and destructive activities in various factories.

The Prime Minister made these remarks on Thursday (November 5) afternoon at a street rally organized at Katakhali intersection on the Khulna-Mongla highway in Bagerhat.

Tareque Rahman said that the industrial factories established in the country over the last 50 years are one of the main sources of foreign currency earnings. Millions of mothers, sisters, and working-class people are employed in these industrial establishments. These factories are the nation’s assets, the people’s assets. No worker can harm their own workplace and livelihood.

Criticizing a certain group, the Prime Minister stated that over the past 15-16 years, they failed to change the fortunes of the country’s people. They had snatched away people’s voting rights and plundered the nation’s wealth, subsequently siphoning it abroad.

He further added that those who were forced to flee the country in the face of a mass uprising are now pulling strings from across the border, attempting to create a chaotic situation in the country.

Regarding workers’ wages, the Prime Minister mentioned that the government is aware of certain demands from the worker brothers and sisters concerning their wages. A wage board has already been formed to consider and review their demands, and the board has commenced its work.

Tareque Rahman stated, “Insha’Allah (God willing), new minimum wages will be set within the next one to two months, so that our worker brothers and sisters can live comfortably.”
